What each section means

Every issue is organized into the same five sections, in roughly the same order, every week. Knowing what each one is actually for makes a single issue more useful and a year of them much more useful.

The Wire

What happened this week. Market stories first, then releases, then anything worth knowing. Quick to read, nothing padded, and every item ends with why it matters rather than just what occurred.

The Breakdown

One story, taken apart properly. The biggest thing that happened, with the evidence behind it, the argument against it, and what it actually changes for anyone buying or selling.

The Pattern

What's forming across several stories rather than inside one. Not news and not prediction, just a shape becoming visible once you put the right things next to each other.

The Numbers

The economic weather. Export figures, price indices, market data, and what they genuinely mean once you check what they're measuring. Dry by design and the section dealers trust most.

On Our Radar

What we're watching next and when we'll know. Dates, auctions, data releases, and the calls we've put on the record and will mark ourselves against.

The order is deliberate. The Wire and The Breakdown tell you what's happening now. The Pattern and The Numbers are slower and matter more over months than in any single week. On Our Radar is the section to reread once something on it actually happens — it's where you'll have seen it coming first.

Want the method behind The Pattern and The Numbers specifically? The Playbook's Reading the Market module covers how to actually read an export release or spot a trend before it's consensus — this newsletter is where that method gets applied every week.
